This last Friday, like thousands of others, I anticipated the release of Goose Island’s Bourbon County Stout. K and I learned a few days beforehand, that our lowly little BevMo was going to be receiving five cases of 4-packs of 12oz bottles. We were expecting a large line on Black Friday, as a sales associate told us “everyone knows about this.” Here’s a picture of K, in the crazy line..
Together, we purchased four 4-packs, we plan to drink/share/trade two of them, and the remaining eight bottles will be cellared. This past Sunday, we finally opened up a bottle. This pitch black stout is thick, with dark chocolate notes and a heavy lingering nose of bourbon. Like sipping bourbon neat, it has an initial boozy, woodsy taste, but mellows out at the end. Once this beer reached room temperature, it was absolutely fantastic. I cannot wait to taste what time will do to this beer. If you have the opportunity to sample this beer, do not miss out.
