Bottle Share

I just had to share a photo from this week’s bottle share with my friend Pete, and Dale. I could go into how amazing each beer was (with the exception of Mango Magnifico from Founder’s ), and gloat about my beer luck. So, Left Hand Brewing makes some incredible milk stouts, and I am incredibly…

Hop Sac- “First Leaf” Release Party at Ruhstaller Farm

Kiel and I went back up to Ruhstaller Hop Farm for the release party of their Hop Sac “First Leaf,” a fresh hop ale with hops from their own hop yard. Since I recently posted my review, take a look at some photos I took there….

My 2nd Dust Bowl Brewing Visit

I visited Dust Bowl Brewing again this last weekend while in Turlock for a wedding. I absolutely enjoy everything they make, and always love trips down here to see what’s new. I decided to have the sampler flight (you pick five), and had the Blonde, the ESB, Fruit Tramp, stout on nitro, and scotch ale….

Almanac’s Fresh Hop Single IPA Series

This weekend, I had the privilege to sample all three of Almanac’s new fresh hop single IPAs, like Ruhstaller, they used hops from the local Kuchinski hop farm. All three are 7.5 percent, and feature a different hop varietal. I personally enjoyed one more than the other two. The Chinook was definitely my favorite out…

Central Valley–Don’t Miss Out!

Hey North/Central California folks, here’s an amazing barrel aged beer week that you won’t want to miss out on! I’m really excited to see what they are pairing with some of these gems. See you in Turlock at 10East Tap House!

Heavy Beer Season!

I recently drank an Imperial Tanilla Porter from Knee Deep Brewing, and while sipping on this high ABV porter, it reminded me fall was on its way. I’m not the biggest pumpkin fan, so stouts and porters are more of my fall/winter beers. This beer had almost a year on it, and with a high…

Strangest Beer of 2013

I am a huge fan of New Belgium’s innovative craft series, Lips of Faith. I’m always stoked and excited for new releases, collaborations, and intrigued by their ingredients. The most recent release, the Coconut Curry Hefeweizen, was no exception when I saw it for sale at a bottle shop in Davis, California. In the notes…

Magic Hat Fall Variety Pack

Just a couple photos from this year’s Magic Hat Brewing‘s fall variety pack. My favorite was the SĂ©ance, a dark saison, light in flavour with a lingering farmhouse flavour. I highly recommend this beer. I wish I could find it more regularly on the west coast.

Gigantic Brewing

I’m pretty excited to see more of Gigantic Brewing here in California. I’ve only tried these two (High Fidelity Pale Ale, and an IPA), both were incredibly fresh and flavourful. This is a nice change to the Oregon options only being Ninkasi and Rogue in my area. As a typography and label artwork nerd, Im…

Journaling vs. Blogging

In addition to this blog, I also physically write down my beer adventures, and day trips. The internet is forever, but there’s something really special and sentimental to me about writing things down for another generation, or whatever. Maybe my next generations will think I’m a complete lush, but thats okay too. Do you write…

My August Favourites

As you can see, this month I managed to take photos of all my favorites I had this month. The Ruhstaller Triple was incredibly fresh, light, but had a full bodied golden taste with hints of spice. The Or Xata from the Bruery was the fraternal beer twin to my favorite rice milk drink. Heavy…
